We have had a beautiful couple of days. It's been in the low 80s, though it has been extremely windy.
I decided to pull out the kiddy pool that Karin, Brad and Klebo gave us last summer. Stian had a blast with it.
While we were playing in the front yard (and while we were playing elsewhere and while Stian was napping) Kris was building Stian a sandbox! It took him all day, but he got it done! It's so nice! Now we just need to get some more sand to put in it.
Kris made these nice little seats in two of the corners, and Stian quite enjoyed sitting on one of them.
He should stick to sitting on the seats and not on the edge.
Well, the pitty, pitty, patter of a little bitty feet's Gonna pitty, pitty, patter through our house.

A Playdate
We had our friends Kevin and Dawn and their daughter Quinn come out to the house last night for dinner and triking. As we discovered when the Finger-Peds were here, our house is trike heaven. It's also, apparently, good for blowing bubbles.
And then Stian discovered how much fun it is to play in the mulch - and got really, really dirty. This appeared to stress Quinn out who kept looking at me like "do something!" How did Kevin and Dawn get so lucky to have a child who likes things clean and tidy?! Kevin sent an e-mail this morning and told us that he asked Quinn this morning if she liked visiting Stian last night, and after thinking about it her response was "Stian dirty." Yes Quinn, yes he is.

Dreary Sunday
It's a rainy Sunday and Stian is getting restless. He discovered Daddy's shoes, and that was pretty fun for awhile.
But that only lasted so long. Then he kept going over to the door on his bike and saying "Bye-bye!" So after him doing this several times Kris decided to just bundle him up and take him out into the rain. We clearly need to get him a raincoat and some rain boots though!

Shoes
Stian has had a serious hatred of shoes. He likes his little soft soled leather ones just fine, but hard soled shoes are pure evil. Every time we tried to put them on him there was much screaming and crying and general fit throwing. We tried different kinds, we tried rewards (going outside to ride his bike if he has his shoes on), we tried distraction. Nothing worked. He hated them, and he let us know.
I put them in his daycare bag and told them they could try putting them on him, but I didn't expect much. Well last week I went to pick Stian up at school and he was wearing his shoes. And he was just playing. Like it was nothing! Apparently he had had them on most of the day! Yay! Finally!
We put them on him again this evening and he didn't throw a fit at all. And off he went running around!
It was such a beautiful evening, so we played outside for awhile after dinner.
