Silly

We got a coupon book from Target the other day with lots of pictures like this in it:

Stian was intrigued. So he has been working on looking to the side with his eyes, but keeping his face forward. Who knew this was something one had to work on? He's gotten quite good, as he demonstrated after his bath the other night, as you can see:

My favorite game

Big Day: Swimming & First Birthday Party

Stian had a big day today. First we went to Target to go grocery shopping, like we do most Saturday mornings. Well, really, I go grocery shopping and Stian and Daddy go play with the bikes and the balls and the toys. Then after shopping we went to swimming. Stian is back in swim lessons. He seems to be having lots of fun with them. Unfortunately the new teachers are really lame, but that's okay, they get fun time in the pool together, and the classes are pretty cheap. We liked the teacher we had this summer, but she moved away.

Then after swimming Stian went to his very first birthday party for his friend Raffi. It was at a gymnastics center and the kids got to run around and play on all of the equipment. Stian was young for a lot of it, but he still had fun. He especially loved just running on the bouncy floor and flopping on to the ground. Then they had pizza and fruit and cake. Yum! Although goofy Stian doesn't really like cake, so he only had one bite. (It was dim in there and I didn't bring along the speed light, so the pictures aren't very good, unfortunately.)

Stian was pretty worn out by the time we got home. It was way after his naptime, and he crashed. And then this evening he ate about a half of a horse. I guess he worked up an appetite!

Toys

Stian was having much fun playing with his trains last night, and Kris has having fun playing with his new speedlight for the camera. It's amazing how much better the indoor pictures are with the speedlight rather than the regular flash. And maybe one of these days he'll actually read the directions and we'll really know what we're doing! But for now, it's just fun to see the pictures look so much better. (the last batch of pictures from Minnesota were also using the speedlight - you can really see the difference if you compare them to the Christmas in Minnesota pictures before he got the speedlight for his birthday!)

More from Minnesota

Like a dinosaur in the sky

Stian is quite sure that these are the right words.
