Wedding

Kris, Stian and I went to a wedding in Bloomington yesterday. The groom was Kris's friend Dick. Kris and Dick worked together at the law school. It was a pretty ceremony in Beck Chapel, which is right on campus. Stian was not particularly cooperative, so he and I were outside during the ceremony. He loved listening and watching the viola player before the ceremony started. But as soon as she stopped playing he wanted to talk. If, perhaps, we were family of the bride or groom, or if it had been a bigger wedding, we might have stayed. But I decided it was best if he and I ducked out. So we wandered around outside for awhile. It was a fairly short ceremony.

The happy couple: Dick and Margie.

Kris and Stian blowing raspberries together outside the chapel.

Unfortunately, Stian wasn't very cooperative for the reception either. But that's not surprising, it started at his bedtime and he was tired. So we stayed for a little while, but left before dinner and headed home.

It was fun to be back in Bloomington, even if only briefly. We got to stop in at Bloomingfoods - a local food co-op I really like. We drove by our old house. And just drove around town a little.

Blueberries are DISGUSTING!!!!

I'm such a mean mom. I just kept feeding them to him, laughing and taking pictures of his horrible faces.

I think it was actually a texture issue rather than a flavor issue though. They didn't puree all that well, so they were pretty lumpy. He liked them much better when I mixed them in with his cereal.

Our little Hagrid

Stian had his 9 month appointment today and he continues to be rather Hagrid-esque. (For those of you not familiar with the Harry Potter books, Hagrid is half giant)

He's 29 inches long (85% percentile), 25 lbs 10 oz (96% percentile), and his head circumference is 48.5 cm (90th percentile). So he continues to be a rather large kid. But hey - his weight is at least back on the charts, at 6 months he was off of them.

Otherwise Stian is healthy and on track developmentally.

Sky diver

Stian has this funny maneuver he does lately where he lifts his head, arms and legs all off the floor and sort of wiggles. It looks like he's free falling during sky diving before he pulls his parachute.

He's also starting to get up on his hands and knees. So far he's only done it in his crib, but he's getting closer to doing it on the floor. It won't be too long now until this kid is mobile, and then we're really in trouble!

And a bonus laughing picture.
