Cruise 2010 - Day Five - Cabo San Lucas

The next day we were in Cabo San Lucas. We got up very early to go on a short boat trip. Cabo is located at the very tip of the Baja Peninsula. The boat trip was to go out and look at the rock formations at the end of the peninsula. It was a nice trip. It was chilly that morning though.

Enlarge this one to see the sea lions.

After the boat trip we walked around town for a little while and did some shopping.

There was a little booth there where you could get your picture taken with an African lion cub to raise money for a wild cat refuge center.

That night was formal night again.

Look how cute Stian looks in a tie!

Um yeah.

Cruise 2010 - Day Four - Mazatlan

In Mazatlan we took the water taxi over to Stone Island to go to the beach. Stian enjoyed the water taxi and had fun playing at the beach.

With some convincing, Kris did finally get Stian near the water.

But as you can see he wasn't overly happy about it.

That's Brad and Klebo out in a sea kayak.

Cruise 2010 - Day Three - Puerto Vallarta

Day Three we were in Puerto Vallarta. We got off the boat and walked a few blocks to an all inclusive hotel to use their beach and pools.

Stian and Klebo had to stop and investigate a 4 wheeler along the way.

And I think the high light of the whole day for Stian was getting to ride on this cool multi-row golf cart to the beach. He kept talking about riding on the "Gator."

When we got to the beach Kris and Stian headed down to the water to investigate. Unfortunately the surf was quite rough and the first thing that happened was that Stian got knocked down by a big wave. It really scared him and after that, for the rest of the trip, he was not interested in going any where near the water, which was really too bad. We did go swimming in the pool a bit and he played on the beach, but he wouldn't go near the water.

We went back to the ship in the afternoon for Stian to take a nap. Kris napped too and I sat out on the balcony and read my book. When the boys got up we hung out on the balcony watching as we sailed away from Puerto Vallarta.

Cruise 2010 - Day Two - At Sea

Apparently the only thing we did on the second day that was even kind of picture worthy was Auntie Karin gave Stian a haircut. He sat very still while she cut his hair, but I was holding the iphone while he watched Yo Gabba Gabba, so that helped!

Cruise 2010 - Day One - At Sea

We got home last night from our Mexican Riviera cruise with Kris's family. We had a very nice time, and Stian proved again to be a very good little traveler, which is so, so nice.

We had three mini suites right in a row and were able to open up the doors between the balconies and go back and forth that way. It was quite handy and we spent quite a bit of time hanging out on the balconies. The weather was beautiful and the seas calm (except for the last day which was quite rough).

Here's Stian and Grandpa hanging out on the balcony.

The evening of the first night was a formal night. So we all got gussied up.

Apparently I'm the only one in this family who knows how to pose for a family photo.

Kris and Stian demonstrating the "scary smile."

Dinners were a challenge with Stian. They lasted about two hours, and that is just too much to ask of a two year old. There was just no way he was going to sit still for that long. So we had to really work at keeping him entertained and not fussing and not getting under the feet of the servers. I used a couple of tricks including brining a new book to dinner each night and a new little Matchbox car. But that only went so far. We usually ended up pulling out my iphone and some ear buds and let him watch an episode of Yo Gabba Gabba. That was a hit. He's never seen it before as he doesn't watch TV. But it was recommended to me so I had downloaded the first season onto my iphone for this very purpose and he really loved it. Thank goodness for iphones!

After dinner we would usually take Stian wandering around the boat. We would mostly go to the pool area as he loved watching people in the pools. Non-potty trained kids are not allowed in the pools, so he couldn't go in. He accepted that as I told him it was only for big kids and grown ups. But he still liked to watch. He could also run around up there in the evenings as there were very few people on the pool decks that time of night. He also liked to go and watch people play ping pong.

This picture was taken before his hair cut. It was getting so long. I actually really like it that way, but I also like having Karin cut his hair, and we probably won't see her again until June or July, and he might have beeen a little too shaggy, even for me, if we had let it go that long.
