18 months!

Stian turned 18 months old yesterday! He's getting so big! Literally. His 18 month appointment was this morning and he's 30 lbs 8 oz and 32 1/2 inches tall, and in great health.

The Zoo

We took Stian to the zoo today. There is a little zoo in a park in Lafayette that is free. It's under renovation right now, and they don't have a ton of animals, but it's a nice little zoo and Stian seemed to enjoy it. Although perhaps he enjoyed the fountains more than the animals.

Talking

Kris took a little video this morning of Stian before school. We wanted to get some of his talking recorded because his little voice is so cute and won't always be that way!

Syttende Mai

Today is Syttende Mai, Norwegian Constitution Day. Because we live in Indiana, far away from any sort of Norwegian community, there is no opportunity to go participate in Syttende Mai festivities. So instead the three of us went to the park this afternoon. We went to Prophetstown State Park, which actually backs up against our property. We had heard they had nice a place ground, so we went to check it out. It was a very nice playground, we'll be back!

Mother's Day

Stian made me this cute card and painted foot print in plaster for Mother's Day. Unfortunately Stian was crying when they took the picture at school. He has suddenly become afraid of things. And at that moment he was afraid of the tractor that was mowing the grass right outside the window of his classroom.

If you look closely off to the left of my head in the picture you can see pictures of us posted on the wall. There's a picture of us with Kris's side of the family, a picture of us with my side of the family, a picture of the three of us, and a picture of just me and Kris. I guess Stian loves these pictures and goes over to them all the time at school to look at them.

Fancy New Chair

I've been wanting a little chair for Stian for awhile. They have ones at school that he loves to sit in. But I haven't been able to find one anywhere to buy. So Kris made him one today. He loves it!

New Schedule

Classes are over at Purdue. I just need to calculate final grades and submit them. I don't teach over the summer so I have a more flexible schedule. I still need to do research, but we're trying out a new schedule. I'll work full time Monday through Thursday, and Stian will be in daycare, and then we'll take Fridays off. Today was our first Friday off. We had fun! It was nice to have a whole day with just me and Stian. We went to the library this morning, but he was tired, so we didn't stay that long. We came home and he took a long nap. This afternoon we were going to go to the park, but it was raining, so we played outside while it was still just sprinkling, and then inside once it really started to rain. But then he seemed to be tired again, so I tried putting him down for another nap late this afternoon and he went right to sleep for another hour. I guess he needed to get caught up on his sleep. Hopefully I'll be able to get enough done on Monday through Thursday so that we can keep this schedule.

Once Kris got home we had dinner and then played outside as it had stopped raining.
