Thanksgiving and Birthday

We went north this last weekend to celebrate Thanksgiving and Stian's birthday with both Kris's family and mine. It was a quick trip, but it was fun. Here are some pictures from the weekend.

He's TWO!

Stian's birthday was on Friday (more pictures will come later when I have time).

He had his two year appointment this morning. He's 33.4 lbs clothed and he's 36" tall when standing. The pediatrician said he might be as much as a inch taller if he had been measured lying down. That puts him still in 95th percentile for weight and between 50th and 75th for height. He's healthy and developing well.

Some recent videos

Here are some vidoes we've taken recently.

I'm such a mean mom. I took this one when Stian was sick. It seems mean that I took a video of him crying, but he cried pretty much the entire week. And I thought it captured the moment. Hopefully he won't scream at me like this forever!

Now that we're off daylight savings time it's dark here after dinner, which is sad, because Stian likes to play outside. So we've been playing outside in the dark when the weather is nice.

The Dunes

Today was an absolutely beautiful day - 70 and sunny. It didn't feel at all like November. We took Stian up to play at the Indiana Dunes with Kevin, Dawn and Quinn. It was very nice. And then we went to the outlet mall in Michigan City and stopped at Costco on the way home. It was a good day, and Stian had so much fun.

Halloween

Poor Stian was too sick to do much for Halloween this year. He didn't get to wear his costume to school, he didn't get to go the neighborhood Halloween party of Halloween street party in Battle Ground, or go trick or treating. Poor little guy.

But he did get to carve his very first pumpkin with Grandpa!

You can see in this first picture how Stian is really feeling.

But he's trying!

A Train!

Kris's parents are here this weekend. It's always nice to have them, but it is especially nice with Stian being sick. Since Grandma is a retired nurse it's nice to have someone around to know what to listen for in his lungs and to teach us how to do it. It makes me feel more comfortable with him being sick!

And they brought Stian a train! It's much fun. It runs on batteries and goes around the track. Stian loves it. He loves hauling the engine around especially.

The Plague

We're pretty sure Stian and I have swine flu. Mine is very mild (so far), but it's been quite rough on poor little Stian. His fever has been quite high - as high as 104.6. He has a nasty cough and a runny nose. I imagine he also has a sore throat and is achey, but he can't tell us that. He's been miserable. Poor little kid. He does seem to be doing better today, his temp is more like in the 100-101 range. So maybe we are nearing the end. Today is day four. He stayed home from school on Thursday and Friday.

Here he is on Friday - sitting on the sofa drinking juice and watching TV. He almost never gets juice at home, but we wanted him to keep hyrdated. And he never watches TV. Aside from a couple of minutes of a football game once or twice, this is the first time he's actually watched TV. We had already spent hours, literally hours, reading books. So we turned on the TV. He only watched for about 20 minutes before losing interest. But it did give Mommy a short break.
