Ice balloons
Our winter ice project this year was to fill water balloons with water and food coloring and then set them outside to freeze. Once they had frozen we removed the balloons. They turned out pretty cool, though I wonder if my mother's fingers are permanently stained from the food coloring...

We were going to do that up at Skogfjorden! I saw it on mylittlenorway.com. We had planned to hang them, so we did a test, and it didn't work out as nicely as we hoped since they were a lot smaller. I think setting them on the ground looks awesome. I love the food coloring idea! Ours had items inside, like a bit of spruce or a marble. We are going to try it like yours! (And maybe wear rubber gloves....)
Never heard of doing this, but loved the pictures. Really Cool.
Rubber gloves would be a REALLY good idea!!
