Blueberries!!!!

The blueberries are in! Actually, they've been in for awhile, but we haven't had a chance to get over there and pick any until this evening. I get ridiculously excited about fresh blueberries in the summer time. They are such a treat. We couldn't stay and pick as many as I would have liked - we would have been there all night and Stian needed to get home and go to bed. But we did pick 3 1/3 lbs. That should last me through breakfast tomorrow.

It's a lot harder to pick blueberries when you are holding a baby in your lap. Good thing Kris was there to do most of the picking. I picked what I could while sitting with Stian in my lap. And Stian really wanted to help.

Eight Months!

Stian is 8 months old today!

teeth

Both of Stian's front bottom teeth are coming in at the same time. That might have been why he was so unhappy there for awhile. He seems to be okay again, so perhaps the pain is over for now.

Grad school buddies

Every summer a few of my grad school friends and I get together for a couple of days. We hang out, commiserate about our jobs, laugh, shop, eat and give each other feedback on research we are working on. It's always so great to see them and spend time with them. And I get great feedback, which is very useful.

We rotate where we go. We live all over the country - we've been in Georgetown, TX, Sacramento, CA, and Madison, IN. This summer, so I could be involved but not have to host, we did it at Katy's in-laws' house in Crawfordsville, which is only about 50 minutes from here. So they came up here on Saturday, and I went down there on Sunday.

Unfortunately Carla couldn't make it this summer as she is buried under work and is going up for tenure this fall. Here's the rest of gang: Sandi, me, Robyn and Katy.

shopping

Stian likes to go shopping a lot more now that he can sit up in the shopping cart. And thanks to my mom for making him this cute shopping cart cover!

Mystery Solved!

So I guess aliens haven't snatched my happy, pleasant little baby and replaced him with a screaming, unhappy, non-sleeping pod baby. I was really quite sure that must have been what happened. But I happened to notice something when I got Stian out of his crib after his morning nap. Can you see it?



Kris has the good camera at work, so this was all the further I could zoom in and get a clear picture, so I added the arrow to help.

So at 7 months, 2 weeks and 3 days we have our first tooth!

I had been giving him Baby Tylenol and Baby Mortin last week, suspecting it might be teething, but they didn't seem to help at all, unfortunately. I hope I can find something that helps because he's got a lot more teeth to go! He wears an amber teething necklace, but he can't wear that at night or during naps, and those were his worst times, so I have no idea if it helps at all.

By the way, he had a good day yesterday and a good night last night, and so far a good day today. So maybe now that the tooth has broken through he'll go back to being a happy baby and we'll go back to being happier parents... at least until the next one starts moving!

Avocado and a bib

Stian tried avocados for the first time last week. He wasn't so sure of them at first, but they've grown on him.

But the real reason I post this picture is to show Stian in his groovy bib. Laura's mom, Ruth, made two of these for Stian when he was born. I hadn't pulled them out yet because I thought they'd be too big. But I decided to get them out, and I love them! They are so much nicer than the bibs we have been using that are flimsy and annoying. I'm going to have to figure out how to make some bibs like this, because they are just sooo much nicer to use!
